Home Range Estimator Method and GPS Sampling Schedule Affect Habitat Selection Inferences for Wild Turkeys

We compared ways of estimating turkey home ranges, as technology has now allowed collection of so many locations that really powerful estimators are now appropriate to use for turkeys.  We found that dynamic brownian bridge models performed well on the GPS data we collected, and that using these models even with datasets sparser than what we are collecting is better than using other techniques.  Our findings suggest that collecting more than 1 location per hour via GPS units on turkeys would be ideal for estimating home ranges.
