Hunting Activity Effects on Roost Selection by Male Wild Turkeys

We used GPS data to study roosting behaviors of toms during spring.  Toms exhibited low roost fidelity, meaning they didn’t come back to the same roost night after night.  Once hunting season started, toms appeared to alter roost selection and move about their home ranges.  We suspect that change in behavior was to reduce risk that toms perceived once us turkey hunters were afield.
