Hurricane Effects on Wild Turkey Survival, Daily Movements, and Roost Fidelity

We evaluated space use and movements of turkeys prior to and after 2 hurricane events.  We found that not surprisingly, birds hunkered down during the storms but they did leave their roost sites and move around.  We also found that 5-8% of the marked birds were killed during the storms, meaning that hurricanes could have an impact on populations in areas impacted by these powerful storms.
