Incubation Recesses: Managing for Nesting Habitat

Recess and Management – What does this mean to a land manager? Well, as noted earlier, hens take recesses to gain energy that helps them withstand the rigors of incubating a clutch for nearly a month. If hens are taking multiple or extended recesses in a single day, that implies that they need to take them in order to keep the engine running and, hopefully, have a successful hatch. This points to a potential land management consideration.
