We used GPS to track movements of wild turkey hunters on a relatively small wildlife management area. We found that on average hunters hunted 6 hours each day and walked about ~3.5 miles. However, hunters stayed within 0.2 miles of roads and access trails, and we found that 50% of hunter locations were within ~ 20 yards of an access trail or road. In fact, half of all hunter locations occurred on 2.9% of the site, meaning most hunting pressure was in a tiny percentage of the area.
